1. Pho 79

pho 79

Pho 79 offers an absolutely phenomenal pho experience. The broth is on another level, rich and flavorful, setting it apart from other places. From the moment we were greeted at the door and led to our table, the friendly and efficient staff made us feel welcome. They are particularly attentive to first-time visitors, guiding them to their best-selling items, which truly are crowd-pleasers.

The pho is unmissable, with a broth that is both tasty and slightly sweet. The spring rolls, both fried and fresh, are excellent. Although I wanted to try the bun cha, the generous portions ensured I was full before I could finish. Everything was perfectly cooked, with soft and thick tendon and tender tripe.

Despite a bit of a queue for lunch, the wait was worth it. The pho broth is expertly done, with slow-cooked meat that is tender and soft. The oxtail add-on is a must-have. Portions are generous, accompanied by fresh herbs and sauces, making for a highly recommended dining experience.

My family and I decided to try Pho 79 after our favorite pho place shut down. We were impressed by the variety of pho sizes available and the light, non-greasy broth, which was perfect. The food came out quickly, and the service was efficient. We all left very happy and can’t wait to eat here again. I highly recommend Pho 79 for anyone looking for a top-notch pho experience.

2. Brodard Restaurant

Brodard Restaurant

Brodard Restaurant offers a big variety of Vietnamese cuisine in a modern, airy space with plenty of tables. The decor is updated, making for a pleasant dining environment. There is ample parking available at the strip mall, making it convenient to visit.

The menu includes many Vietnamese staples, and the food is consistently good. We tried the beef noodle soup, savory crepes with herbs and vegetables, and the Nam Neung (pork sausage) wraps—all of which were delicious. The Grilled Pork Spring Rolls are a standout and a must-try. We also enjoyed the Flat Iron Steak & Eggs, Banh Hoi, and Broken Rice. Each dish was well-prepared and flavorful.

One of the classic places to frequent in the area, Brodard is also known for its selection of pastries and desserts, which are a great addition to the meal. The smaller location at John Wayne Airport offers fewer options, but this location provides a broader menu.

We used Yelp check-in to minimize our wait time to around 15-20 minutes on the weekend. The Bun Bo Hue (beef noodle soup) had a very flavorful soup base, and the grilled pork spring rolls were crunchy and satisfying. Portions are generous, so we ended up taking some food home.

The service is fast, and the staff are friendly. We also enjoyed the drinks—lychee tea and Vietnamese coffee, both of which were excellent, with the coffee being particularly strong.

There is a bar in the middle of the restaurant with plenty of seats. Despite being busy, the food arrived quickly. Overall, Brodard Restaurant is highly recommended for its delicious food, efficient service, and pleasant atmosphere.

3. Nguyen’s Kitchen

Nguyen's Kitchen

Nguyen’s Kitchen is a wonderful fast-casual Vietnamese-American restaurant offering great vibes and an excellent location for relaxing and people-watching. Though it’s a tiny place with limited parking, and there can be a long wait during lunch or dinner times, the experience is worth it.

The food is absolutely delicious and full of unique flavors. The Vietnamese coffee is exceptional and a must-try. You can watch the chefs prepare the food, which is always super hot and fresh. The pork is tender with a slight sweetness, the vegetables are fresh, and the bread tastes as if it were baked that morning. The grilled chicken sandwich, a standout Banh Mi, comes with soft, fresh bread, carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, mayo, and a flavorful sauce.

Although they don’t serve Pho or Bun, their sandwiches and garlic noodles with pork are amazing. The garlic noodles are particularly good, adding a nice flare to the meal. The staff are very friendly and helpful, often going the extra mile to ensure a great dining experience, such as providing extra trays for sharing food.

While the prices are slightly higher for the portion sizes, the quality of the food makes up for it. A small side of fries with the sandwiches would be a nice addition. Despite this, the food remains fast, fresh, and tasty. The egg rolls are nicely done, and the mildly spicy sauces enhance the overall flavor.

Overall, Nguyen’s Kitchen is a highly recommended spot in Orange. The combination of great food, friendly service, and a pleasant atmosphere makes it a place to visit often.

4. Non’s Kitchen

Non's Kitchen

Non’s Kitchen is a super cozy Vietnamese restaurant that stands out for its cleanliness and friendly staff. Conveniently located next to the Tesla charging station and Lola’s Filipinas restaurant, it offers plenty of parking spaces and easy access. It’s a great spot to enjoy a meal while using their Wi-Fi.

The taro drinks are flavorful and highly recommended. I tried the stew noodle soup, which was good, though not the best I’ve had. However, the experience was pleasant overall due to the welcoming atmosphere.

One of the highlights was the shaken beef salad, which exceeded expectations thanks to its delectable dressing. The Vietnamese iced coffee is another standout, impressing with its rich flavor. The service is friendly and efficient, adding to the positive dining experience.

I also enjoyed the Glazed Chicken with rice, spring rolls, and a milk crystal Boba tea. The crispy chicken was particularly tasty, and the fresh salad was a nice touch. While the rice was more like Mexican-style colored rice rather than the usual white rice, it was a pleasant surprise and quite enjoyable.

Overall, Non’s Kitchen serves fresh Vietnamese food in a modern American setting, with a fresh atmosphere and attentive service. It’s a place worth visiting again, and I highly recommend it for a delightful dining experience.

5. Soup Shop

Soup Shop

Soup Shop is a Vietnamese fusion restaurant that many would enjoy, especially if you’re a fan of places like Vox Kitchen. The garlic noodles, particularly with filet mignon, are a staple and highly recommended. The wings, although small, are very tasty, and the food presentation is aesthetically pleasing.

The inside of the restaurant is clean, and the staff are incredibly nice. The food comes out quickly, which is great for when you’re really hungry. Despite being a popular spot, the restaurant is on the smaller side, making it a bit challenging for larger parties and leading to longer wait times. A waitlist system would be a great addition.

We tried a variety of dishes, and everything tasted delicious, including the coconut jelly and flan for dessert. The casual dining experience is complemented by great customer service and good background music, creating a nice atmosphere.

The pricing is a bit on the higher side, but it’s consistent with similar places. Overall, Soup Shop offers good quality food in a pleasant setting, making it a place worth visiting. They are also open crazy late, which is a big plus. I strongly recommend trying it out for a delightful dining experience.

6. Lee’s Sandwiches

Lee's Sandwiches

Lee’s Sandwiches offers a variety of Vietnamese dishes, and their BBQ pork and egg rolls are notable highlights. The BBQ pork is tasty, and the egg rolls are especially nice when hot. For the best experience, ask the staff to cut your sandwich in half and add a drizzle of soy sauce.

The staff are friendly, and the Vietnamese coffee is strong and flavorful, just as advertised. A shot of espresso can be added for an extra kick, providing the perfect jolt for your day.

While some customers come specifically for the bread, which is good and inexpensive, opinions on the sandwiches themselves vary. However, the authenticity of the banh mi sandwiches is praised, particularly the paté banh mi, which is a favorite among many.

The shop also sells various Vietnamese shelf items, such as coffee, phin (mini Vietnamese coffee filters), condensed milk, canned pate, mochi, assorted refrigerated drinks, and snacks. Prices are reasonable, making it a great place for a quick and authentic Vietnamese meal.

Despite some minor issues, such as limited parking, Lee’s Sandwiches remains a decent and reliable choice within this popular franchise. If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese flavors, it’s definitely worth a visit.

7. Thanh Binh Restaurant

Thanh Binh Restaurant

Thanh Binh Restaurant is an excellent choice for authentic Vietnamese cuisine, run by a friendly Vietnamese family. The staff are attentive and very polite, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting ambiance makes you feel right at home.

The menu offers a wide variety of authentic Vietnamese dishes, each bursting with incredible flavors and fresh ingredients. The grilled pork with rice is tasty and juicy, a standout dish that I highly recommend. My family and I enjoyed the pho, with the Pho Number 8 and chicken pho being particularly delicious. The egg rolls are also a must-try.

The Shrimp Noodle Soup is light and tasty, and the combo rice is excellent, not greasy like most fried rice. The Vietnamese coffee is super strong and delicious, perfect for coffee lovers.

Overall, the food is consistently delicious, and the service is friendly and attentive. Thanh Binh Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable Vietnamese culinary experience.

8. Bến Ngự Restaurant

Bến Ngự Restaurant

Bến Ngự Restaurant is an exceptional spot for authentic Huế cuisine, located just off Little Saigon. This place is truly a gem, offering specialties from the Huế region that you won’t find at many other Vietnamese restaurants.

One of the must-try dishes here is the bánh ít ram, which is absolutely delicious. Their Bun Bo Hue, a spicy and rich rice noodle soup, is another standout. If the traditional flavor is too intense for you, they can prepare a lighter version upon request. The Crab Noodle Soup (Banh Canh Cua) is perfect for fans of udon-style soup, and the banh beo (little rice cakes) are tasty and unique.

We decided to try Bến Ngự because of its well-reviewed menu featuring items we hadn’t seen before. With three of us, we managed to sample a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious, with some items being truly outstanding. The service was polite, and there was plenty of seating, which kept the restaurant comfortable even during a heatwave.

For the past three years, Bến Ngự has been my favorite place to dine. Although the staff are mostly older and might not speak English fluently, their warm service and the authenticity of their dishes more than make up for it. Their signature dish, Bun Bo Hue, is consistently on point and free from MSG, which is great for those who are sensitive to it.

In my opinion, Bến Ngự is one of the top spots for Vietnamese Huế food in the area. Every dish is a hit, especially the Mi Quang. I highly recommend giving this place a try—you won’t be disappointed.

9. Ha Noi Corner Restaurant

Ha Noi Corner Restaurant

Ha Noi Corner Restaurant has become a staple for authentic Northern Vietnamese cuisine in LA. I’ve been visiting since it first opened with a smaller menu, and while they’ve added many new items, the quality of the food has remained consistently excellent. I make it a point to come here at least once every time I’m in the city. Although I’ve tried various dishes, my favorite remains the Bun Cha Ha Noi. The service has been outstanding on each visit.

This place offers great food and great service. The authenticity of the Northern Vietnamese dishes is commendable. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the service is fast. It was my first time here, but it definitely won’t be my last. In fact, I’m planning to return tomorrow evening to get their coconut escargot for my parents. The meal I had was truly outstanding, with strong and complex flavors that complemented the fresh seafood perfectly. The menu is a mix of traditional and inventive items, with the salted egg yolk flavored dishes and bun dau mam tom standing out as must-tries. If I lived nearby, I’d be here every week.

I accidentally discovered this gem and I’m so glad I did! The soup was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and delicious. Their Thai tea was perfectly balanced, and I’m already craving the soup again. I will definitely be revisiting soon.

The food at Ha Noi Corner is awesome, and the staff is super friendly. Despite a constant stream of customers, the food arrives quickly. My family loves this place. I ordered my favorite bo luc lac (beef with rice), my brother had the steak, and while I can’t recall what my dad ordered (since I’m writing this review two weeks late), I do remember how delicious everything was. I hope they continue to succeed, even though I secretly wish they don’t get too busy because I love the short wait time for food. This is an excellent place for those who need their food quickly to stave off hanger. Definitely coming back.

In summary, Ha Noi Corner Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with authentic and inventive Northern Vietnamese dishes, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

10. Pho Cali Restaurant

Pho Cali Restaurant

While the exterior and interior might not be the most appealing, the food more than makes up for it. The diced beef is delicious, and the banh bo nuong is amazing. Their shrimp pho is by far the best in Orange County, and at about $10, it’s a bargain. The freshly baked French baguettes and incredible egg rolls are also standout items.

The food at Pho Cali is consistently great and very affordable. They offer a variety of tasty snacks and plates, making it a perfect spot for a casual meal. The desserts and freshly baked French bread are excellent, and their to-go pre-packed food is also impressive.

If you’re looking for delicious Vietnamese food at a great price, Pho Cali is the place to go. Despite its humble appearance, the quality and flavor of the dishes make it well worth a visit. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!
